Resets submenu

Note

Use this menu with caution. You can lose buffered page data or product configuration settings when you select these
items. Reset the product only under the following circumstances:

z

You want to restore the product default settings.

z

Communication between the product and computer has been interrupted.

z

You are having problems with a port.

The items in the Resets submenu will clear all memory in the product, while

R

ESET

clears only the current job.

Explanation

RESTORE FACTORY
SETTINGS

This item performs a simple reset and restores most of the factory (default) settings. This item
also clears the input buffer for the active I/O. E-mail gateways are not changed, and the local
address book is not cleared.

Resetting memory during a print job can result in data loss.

This item does not affect network settings stored on the HP Jetdirect print server (if installed).

CLEAR MAINTENANCE
MESSAGE

This item appears only after the

PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE

message displays.

OFF

: The

PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE

message will be cleared. If you do not replace the

printer maintenance kit, the

PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE

message will be displayed again

after approximately 17,500 pages.

The message should not be turned off unless the necessary product maintenance has been
performed. If the required maintenance is not performed, product performance will degrade.

Configure device menu

POWERSAVE

This item allows the user to turn

POWERSAVE

ON and OFF. If

POWERSAVE

is OFF, the product will

never enter PowerSave mode and no asterisk will appear next to any item when the user
enters the

POWERSAVE TIME

menu item. The default value for

POWERSAVE

is ON.

LOCK CARRIAGE

This item allows you to lock the scan head in place when you transpor t the product.

CLEAR ADDRESS BOOK

This item allows you to remove all entries in the local address book.
